At the end of a construction project in Jerusalem,
Israel, there was cabinetry and a staircase to be built. That
was in 1983 and I have been a cabinetmaker ever since. I am
self-taught, although, I studied ceramics at SUNY Brockport,
University of Washington and the School for the Art Institute
of Chicago. My mentors have been James Krenov, George Nakashima,
Wendle Castle, and Bernard Leach (Potter).
I have lived and worked on Whidbey Island for
the last fifteen years with my wife and two children. My work
has been by commission for Whidbey Island clients. Projects
have included jewelry cases, kitchens, a library, tables,
bedroom sets, a monks meditation box and coffins. Materials
have been mostly domestic woods.
I love fine joinery, sharp chisles and
finely tuned hand planes.
