Kim Kelzer is a nationally known furniture maker.
Her witty, colorful furniture and cabinets are exhibited in
galleries, museums and homes around the country. Since 1986,
her original, innovative and imaginative designs have pushed
the boundaries of traditional woodworking, yet are extremely
functional; employing traditional materials and methods of
construction.
Utilizing only quality materials: solid woods,
plywood, hardware, recycled materials, mosaic and paints,
she avoids the use of MDF, particle board and staples, believing
it’s possible to achieve an exceptional, long lasting,
piece that is still cost effective. I approach each piece,
be it seating or storage, a hall table or a whole kitchen
with the idea of solving the problem of function first, then,
how can I make it unique? What can it say about that function
and the user? Creating something both useful and beautiful,
that lasts a lifetime, adds joy to your home.
