WOOD: BRUCE LAUNER
Ceramic Glass Metal Wood Mixed Media
Bruce Launer

Bruce Launer designs and constructs finely crafted art furniture, creating architectural and sculptural elements that incorporate select woods, hand crafted ceramics and other natural materials. Bruce uses artistic skills through concept, design, material selection, construction and the finished work to create functional pieces such as furniture and music stands.

Many pieces feature a juxtaposition of unfinished natural materials combined with highly finished hardwoods and ceramics, his intention being to erase the arbitrary lines created by art, design, and craft. An elegant and unique piece is created by skillfully combining diverse materials.

Bruce began working with wood while restoring the woodwork on historic buildings in Santa Cruz, California. Bruce earned a B.S. degree in art from Eastern Oregon State College where he first began working with ceramics.

Bruce has a collection of his creations and designs on display at Bayview Arts in Langley, Washington. He also works with clients to create custom pieces to fit specific spaces and/or needs.
