Meredith MacLeod started producing specialty
glass tile using high-fired enamel paints in 1990. This tile
has many versatile applications. It can be mixed with other
types of tile for interior use or presented as a unique exterior
wall mural. MacLeod offers a line of her own expressive patterns,
but she will also work with clients on any custom concept.
She has worked for both residential and corporate clients.
Each project involves carefully cutting tile
to the size of the space. She then embeds the imagery between
two sheets of clear glass. The tiles are hand-painted with
hand-mixed colors and fired in a kiln. Images can be brushed
or silkscreened on the tile for fine detail. The paint is
captured between the layers, keeping its richness and enhancing
its durability. Meredith MacLeod's glass tiles offer a variety
of vidual dimensions.
