I am passionate about creating a balanced relationship
between form and function, and see beauty in the inherent
characteristics of my chosen materials. Working in metal,
glass, wood, reclaimed objects, plastics, and natural materials
I explore the interrelationship of the human form and the
built environment, and the importance of creating place from
space.
My pieces evolve through a meditative process.
By working with and manipulating a medium’s internal energies
and properties I am able to form objects that often alter
perceptions or highlight interesting juxtapositions. I enjoy
transforming the ordinary to create a heightened awareness
of people’s surroundings.
I hold a graduate degree in
Urban Planning and incorporate my expertise in community
participation and design in my
art. In recent years I have been an Artist in Residence
(Vancouver, B.C.) and Arts Advisory Board member (Snowmass
Village, CO.).
